HolidayThe first committee meeting was well attended by 40 people.  There was a lot of positive support.  Don Stevens introduced his new Holiday co-chair, Doyle Walton..

Shop LocaleIndependence week is being done nationally this year and Shop Locale is working on putting a family event together with activities.  Looking to schedule the activities before First Friday begins on July 4th between 4-7.

Fall Arts FestivalThe Arts Festival is scheduled for September 6 & 7, 2008.  Everything is going well.  We have 104 applications for crafters and we continue to upgrade each year.  The $25 registration fee has offset the cost of the money that was brought in with the program books which has been discontinued.

Flowering BasketsThe basket hanging is scheduled for 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, May 18th meeting at Starbucks.  The Borough will distribute the baskets to the lampposts this year, which will help, the process run more smoothly.  Bring your ladders and cordless drills if you can help out.

UPDATES:

Meeting Representative - Joan Doyle spoke in regard to the Safe Walking Initiative brochure that was put together in a joint effort by Doylestown Borough Council, Doylestown Revitalization Board and Doylestown Borough Police Department.  Lenape Junior High School had a poster contest portraying these new guidelines.  We would like to ask the business owners to support this new Safe Walking Initiative by hanging one of the winning posters in your store window for the next month.  Please stop by the new DBCA office located at 63 East State Street, Doylestown to pick up a poster or call Margie Adamsky at (215) 340-9988.

Also discussed was the Zoning & Planning Committee/Planning Commission review of the preliminary land development approval for the new justice center and the plans for the new parking garage.  There will be three phases to the overall project; the garage is the first one.  Phase two will be the Judicial Center.  Design/construction plans are not expected for at least 18 months.  The final and third phase will address the VIP parking structure at the corner of Board and Court Street.

The public is invited to a town meeting that will take place on June 9, 7:30 pm, at the regularly scheduled meeting of borough council’s Zoning & Planning Committee.  Business owners are encouraged to come and provide input.
