OPENING INTRODUCTIONS – Facilitated by Rich Slabinski/President
The Arts Festival went phenomenally well on Sunday. Thank you to all of the volunteers and folks who helped out with the DBCA tent.
We are still in the process of getting our 501(c)(3) status. Rick Kempes took us as far as he could go. We now have Cindi Goodin on board to complete it for us. We have just gotten all of our financials together and this status is key to moving our organization forward.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
Holiday – Most of the new decorations should be in by October 10. With 100 lampposts added this year, we will be calling on volunteers to help with the holiday decorations. We will try to put the decorations up earlier this year and are shooting for the first weekend in November.
We are still working on refurbishing Santa’s house.
Shop Locale – We have the cards and are up and running. We currently have 40 businesses on board. The card will run from September – December 2009. This new 16-month card will cost $16 and our two charities this year will be Habitat for Humanity and CB Cares.
The Board has given money towards an ad that will be shown at the County Theater. The new slogan will be “Got the Card” which is like the “Got Milk” slogan.
We are also looking at having an evening event in town on October 30th. This will be a chance to get to know your Shop/Dine merchants. People can go around town and the participating merchants will be giving out things (not candy). Anyone who buys from a participating merchant will get a card that will go into a raffle basket.
Flowering Baskets – The baskets need to be taken down in town before the complaints come in. This is short notice but we are asking for volunteers to meet at Starbucks on Sunday, September 28 at 9:00 a.m.
Membership – We will start to put together the committee for next year by the end of September. Please get in touch with Nurit Bland if you are interested.
UPDATES:
Meeting Representative - Joan Doyle - I would like to thank Rich Slabinski and all of the DBCA for a fantastic job at the Arts Festival on Sunday. The only negative that was brought up about the event was that there was no recycling bins. The DBCA had boxes for trash but the recyclables were horrendous. The Boro is looking at making recyling a policy for all events.
Rich will talk to Allied Waste to see what we can do for next year’s Art Festival as well as talk with Nancy Taylor about recyclables at the Doylestown 5k race.
The Revitalization Board and Boro Council are trying to put together a Boro wide block party to get to know the residents. We are looking for volunteers with any experience in putting together something like this. Our next meeting will be held on September 25th at 7:00 p.m. We are looking at doing this either next spring or fall. We will have 9 streets closed off just for residents. The DBCA is welcome to join in, just let us know.
Misc. Announcements –
